We had a successful reading of my new play, "The Christmas Truce," on 12/17/07, and I thank all who attended, and special thanks for your valuable feedback. Those who were there and still wish to make comments can do so by e-mailing me here (click the "contact me" link). I'll be working on revisions in the days ahead, and Actors Cabaret of Eugene is committed to a full production during the Christmas season of 2008. Thanks also to ACE for committing to the development of this play,
and especially to Joe Zingo for his direction and continuing guidance as we move on from here.
The play is set during Christmas, 1914, on the Western Front of World War I, and is based on the true story of the spontaneous, unofficial truce that occurred between British and German troops, who laid down their arms and celebrated Christmas together in "No Man's Land." In the play, a young British officer and his German counterpart form a friendship based on the spirit of Christmas that prevails over the destruction and violence of "the war to end all wars."
